For FAWM 2008. This is a demo of another dubstep-influenced passacaglia. (I will be refining the arrangement and mix in the future.) I like the overall structure and pacing of this one; I really like the way the South Asian flute samples fit in. I’m not as happy with the way the sub sits in the mix.

Looks like we managed to assemble an extremely sloppy guitarist and an extremely sloppy keyboardist for the same session. Sorry, but this track is a little rough around the edges. This one started out as a ludicrous breakbeat exercise but rapidly became a fairly accessible pop song. (I took out most of the slicing/dicing and clicks/cuts because they scared the dog.)

“Captain Tournevis” is the sort of absurdist super-antihero I would have invented to keep myself amused while studying French as a teenager. This song has a sort of “tinkering” feel to it, as if the antihero is futzing around with the eponymous screwdriver.

Written for FAWM 2006. This one is substantially grittier than previous efforts and uses a lot of weird synthetic percussion. The lengths of percussive sections are taken from the Fibonacci sequence: 1n bars, 1n bars, 2n bars, 3n bars, 5n bars, etc. You may be able to hear the entry of the initial percussive motive at the beginning of each section. (This formal conceit breaks down about halfway through.)
